Michelle Espinal-Embler

Mom. Wife. Daughter. Trailblazer. Organizer.

As a young woman of color, raised by a strong and nurturing mother, and now with two young children of my own, I am driven to unite all our sisters and brothers in taking back our government.

All of my life I have taken active steps to contribute to making our world a better place.  At a young age, I was mentored by an artist--a strong LGBT woman business owner--who showed me the power of words to move communities to action. My heart was filled with the courage to take bold action and always  pursue goodness, even when it's not easy.

"Virtue is bold, and goodness is never fearful."

These words have inspired me to never act from fear--even when conventional wisdom would have me sit back and follow the status quo.  That's why I'm running: to be the CHANGE. As an intern for the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE) in the public relations and marketing division, the lessons of my childhood, that we are all "created equal" were solidified in my heart and mind. It is the clarion call by which I live my life, focusing my actions on ensuring that WE all have EQUAL rights to live, love, and pursue happiness while ensuring that we PROTECT our planet as one people, without regard to superficial differences, knowing that it is our DIVERSITY that makes us STRONG.

I started my education in politics, as the youngest-ever intern for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, at the age of 15.  It was at this time that I clearly understood that it's the responsibility of our government to SERVE "we the people".  As a constituents affairs intern I realized that our elected officials are entrusted with being our VOICE.  As a lifelong Democrat, I hold dear the tenets of our great party:

"Health care is a right. Diversity is a strength. The economy should work for everyone. Facts and truth matter."

As a campaign manager, marketing executive, former board member of the Dallas County Young Democrats, founding member of Downtown Dallas Democrats, City of Dallas appointee to the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, and fundraising chair of the Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) at my daughter's public school, I have DEDICATED my time to supporting progressive candidates and causes, promoting social EQUITY, and raising money for education and progressive issues in Dallas County.

Our Dallas County Democratic Party needs a DYNAMIC, energetic, driven, and progressive Party Chair with the skills I have honed over the past 15+ years: skills to GROW our base, NURTURE future leaders, raise money to promote and SUPPORT our democratic candidates for all elected positions.  It's our responsibility to support those committed to our VALUES in every way we can--not to charge them for our support.

As a grassroots DRIVEN party that is by the people and for the people, FOSTERING our precinct chairs and progressive groups is essential.  My primary goal as your Party Chair will be to provide all of the needed funding, tools, RESOURCES, and support to make the Dallas County Democratic Party the prototype for turning Texas blue.

As the Dallas County Democratic Chair, I will work to ensure that every Democratic candidate for judicial, municipal, county, state, and federal elected positions is supported and nurtured (regardless if their race is "partisan" or not).

I will ENCOURAGE, support, and nurture our fellow Democrats who UPHOLD the Democratic values:

  • PROTECTING voting rights, freedom of religion, women’s right to make our own healthcare decisions, and equality for the entire LGBTQ+ community

  • Criminal JUSTICE reform

  • Preventing senseless gun violence and treating gun violence as the deadly public health crisis it is

  • Ensuring that every child--regardless of ZIP code--has ACCESS to a quality public education

  • Curbing the effects of climate change, protecting our natural resources, and ensuring the QUALITY of our air, water, and land for today and tomorrow

  • Making healthcare a human right accessible to all

  • Treating all people who come to the United States with dignity and respect, EMBRACING all immigrants

  • Making debt-free college AVAILABLE to all Americans

  • Holding ACCOUNTABLE companies that ship profits and jobs overseas

  • Fighting for equal pay and paid leave

  • Ensuring the wealthiest citizens and largest corporations pay their fair share of taxes

  • Closing the “digital divide” by EXPANDING access to high-speed broadband internet to provide access, information, and education, while serving as a central resource for small businesses and entrepreneurs to generate economic GROWTH
